Lost Colony:
The historic Roanoke Island, in what is now Dare County, NC, is the site of our state’s most enduring unsolved mystery. It was 1590 when the colonists disappeared without a trace. The only clue left behind – a cryptic carving in the palisade. Researchers have speculated that a hurricane may have doomed the Lost Colony. Or perhaps something more mysterious.
